DES MOINES, Iowa —A pedestrian chasing his dog that had escaped from his vehicle was hit by a car and killed Wednesday night.
The accident happened around 10:30 p.m. in the southbound lanes of Interstate 35 near St. Charles.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, 74-year-old Lawrence Anderson's vehicle broke down.  He was attempting to chase down his dog, which had escaped from his vehicle.  Anderson walked into the fast lane of the interstate and was hit and killed by a passing Chevy Suburban.
