Uno has officially left the building today. He was rescued today from BCAS by Bella Reed PBR. Thank you so much for finding this boy a foster home!!
There was no hesitation from him to jump right into the car after checking out all his goodies in the trunk.
Thanks to everyone involved in getting him out.

New charges added in Waterloo dog death
This is something that is very close to home for me. This unthinkable unspeakable act happened in my state. One of the worst states for animal rights. This story of Caleb is what really made me wake up & realize I can no longer sit & be silent about the terrible things that happen like this every day to these beautiful innocent souls. I hope these pieces of shit are brought to justice for the sake of Caleb & all the other animals that have suffered a fate as bad as sweet precious Caleb. God bless your soul Caleb. May you rest in peace.

Pound Seizure: The Shame of Shelters
What Is Pound Seizure?
“Pound seizure” is the practice by which animal shelters sell or release stray, lost, or abandoned dogs and cats to laboratories or to animal dealers who sell the animals to laboratories for use in experiments. If an animal shelter or pound is located in a state or county that has a pound-seizure requirement, it must relinquish animals who are not claimed or adopted to laboratories that ask for them.

Think Of Them
Dear God why, why do they have to die? Why do people ignore their cries? Why can't humankind sympathize? How can so many see what's happening but have no compassion? They just leave them abandoned. Instead of choosing to have a true companion. I hurts me so much to see this happen. I feel sadness & despair for them deep within my core being. I hate what I am seeing. If people would just stop the breeding then their wouldn't be so many needing. Wish I could save em all but I can't. And that is what breaks my heart most of all. If more people were like me then they would see the true love & light these wonderful creatures have to give. But so many don't get the chance to love & live. I WILL NOT KEEP QUIET. I WILL BE THEIR VOICE. I WILL NOT BE SILENT WHILE THEY HAVE NO CHOICE.

What is FIV?
FAQs About Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV)
FIV stand for feline immunodeficiency virus. It is a lentivirus, the same class of virus as HIV. FIV, which can live in many different tissues in cats, typically causes a weakening of the cat's immune system.
How do cats get FIV?
One of the tissues in which FIV lives is the salivary glands, so the most common route of infection is a deep bite wound from a FIV-positive cat to another cat. It can also be transmitted via blood, in utero and from milk from an infected mother cat. It is very rare for cats to get FIV from just being around infected cats, from sharing food bowls, or from a person touching a FIV-positive cat and then touching a FIV-negative cat.
What are the signs of FIV infection?
There are no specific signs of FIV infection. FIV-positive cats have a weaker immune system so they are more prone to getting infections such as upper respiratory infections, ringworm and dental disease. Other than that, FIV-positive cats tend to live normal lives and have a normal length of life.
How do I know if my cat has FIV?
There are no obvious signs of FIV so the only way to know is to do a blood test. The most common screening test is an ELISA test (often called a SNAP test) done by your veterinarian, which looks for antibodies to FIV. An antibody is a protein made by the cat in response to FIV infection. A cat can test positive as soon as two to four weeks after exposure, but it can take up to eight weeks.
Kittens under six months of age may test positive after having received antibodies from their mothers, either in utero or via milk. It can take up to six months for these antibodies to go away. Thus, it is a good idea to retest a kitten who tests positive after he or she has reached six months of age.
Can FIV be treated?
There are no proven treatments to rid a cat of FIV. Most FIV-positive cats handle the disease well, but it is important to concentrate on treating the secondary illnesses.
What can be done to prevent the spread of FIV?
Cats should be kept indoors so they do not fight with a FIV-positive cat. Depending on where one lives, the rate of FIV-positive cats ranges from 4 to 24 percent. A FIV-positive cat can live with a FIV-negative cat as long as neither cat is a fighter, or the FIV-positive cat has no teeth. (FIV-positive cats commonly have severe dental disease, which often means it is necessary to remove all their teeth.)
There is a vaccine for FIV, but Best Friends does not recommend it because the vaccine does not have the best efficacy and, after a cat is vaccinated for FIV, the cat will test positive for the virus. At this point, no test can differentiate whether a cat tests positive for FIV from the vaccine or from having the infection. If a cat escapes and is picked up by local animal control, and then tested, the cat may be killed because he or she tests positive.
Can FIV-negative and FIV-positive cats live together?
Yes, as long as the cats get along and do not fight. The risk that a FIV-positive cat could spread the virus to a FIV-negative cat can be minimized by having them live in separate rooms until you are confident that they will not fight with each other.
Can FIV-positive cats have a good and long life?
FIV-positive cats can live normal lives both in quality and duration. They do take special care in terms of monitoring them for signs of infection and they do have a tendency to have bad dental disease.

5 Tips for Saving Money on Your Cat Care
If times are tough, make life a little easier with this advice on managing your kitty care finances. by Catherine Holm
It might not be the financial crisis of 2008, but many of us are still struggling with how to best allocate our money. It seems that there are so many things demanding dollars, and costs continue to increase everywhere. Bringing a cat into the picture, or keeping a cat or cats, complicates our finances further.
We all know that it costs money to care for a cat well. But you don't need to dig a deeper financial hole with worries about cat care. Apply some mindfulness to your finances and your cat expenditures, and you'll be able to keep cats in your life.

We all know that it costs money to care for a cat well. But you don't need to dig a deeper financial hole with worries about cat care. Apply some mindfulness to your finances and your cat expenditures, and you'll be able to keep cats in your life.
Here are five tips for saving money on your cat care:
1. Make choices and prioritize
Does your cat need to have the best of everything? Well, sure, of course we want this! But sometimes it isn't realistic if your supply of money is finite. So, get mindful. What do you want your cat to have? What is not so important? Would your cat really be happier with a $200 cat tree, or could you perhaps build one yourself for less or concoct something that serves the same purpose? Would your cat be happier with a paper bag? Some are!
If you have a set budget for what you can spend on your cat, decide where you want to spend money for quality, and where you can improvise if needed. For example, I think diet is really important, so I spend quite a bit of money on good, grain-free cat food (canned and dry). I could surely save a ton of money if I bought the cheapest food on the market, but I believe that much of health starts with good food. On the other hand, I don't have the $$$ for a fancy cat tree, so I don't have one. My cats play with boxes, bags, a $10 nylon cat tent that they love, a number of small toys, and the Feline Fisher (worth every penny). Mostly, my cats seem happy when they get time with me -- regardless of how fancy or unfancy the toys are.

2. Don't free-feed
You may be draining money from your household if you're letting your cat graze on food throughout the day. I know that some people do this successfully. I have never done this. Certainly it'd be easier logistically -- simply set out the food and forget about it for the rest of the day. But some of my cats would likely overgraze and gain weight -- and I don't want that.
Like I said above, the food I'm feeding is too expensive to waste. My cats get measured amounts twice a day. For a very senior cat, who might do better with several small meals, I've fed three times a day.

. Set up an emergency fund
This is basic personal finance 101, and it is so easy to overlook! You've heard it all before. Pay yourself first. Sometimes that's easier said than done, but it can be done -- it just takes discipline. You'll feel good when you put this habit into place, and you'll also gain a feeling of security when you have cash for emergencies.
You might consider setting up a sub-emergency fund specifically for cat emergencies. Don't you want to be prepared if something happens to your cat? Veterinary expenses can add up fast. (Ask me, I know.) You'll have peace of mind if you can stash some money aside for unexpected surprises. Yes, it may only be a few dollars at first. But with regularity, and time, those dollars add up.

4. Take advantage of low-cost preventive or vet services
Don't let the perceived expense of a spay, for example, stop you from adopting a new female cat or spaying your already-owned cat. Are there low cost spay/neuter options in your area? Ask around, or get creative. Can you negotiate with your veterinarian? I understand that vets have huge overhead and expenses, and that it can be a difficult business to run, but there may, in some cases, be leeway, especially if you've been a historically good customer.
If you're looking to adopt, some shelters offer discounts at particular times, or discounts for seniors, etc. While I'm not sure that giving pets away free is a good idea (it could serve to devalue the pet and possibly attract people who may not be serious about pet guardianship), I also understand that there are times when people are strapped and need to be watching their dollars.

5. Shop around for the stuff you use often
Decide where you most want your cat dollars to go -- there are times when the cheapest choice is not always the best choice. This is going to depend on you and your approach to caring for cats. I spend a lot on food, but I don't spend a lot on cat litter, because I'm not sold on clumping litter and I love a particular brand of litter that is cheap and unscented. If you love another litter and it makes your life better to buy it, than allocate your cat budget toward this and cut back elsewhere.
Come to think of it, always have an eye toward your entire budget. Would you give up _______ so you could buy _____ for your cat? Fill in the blanks. For example, would you give up ice cream so that you could afford something for your cat this week or month? I would. Or a latte? Yes. You get the picture. Look at your entire budget and prioritize as to what's important overall and what is not so important.
How do you juggle your budget so that you can care well for your cat? What tips can you share?

I am astonished at how many people think bad of our government when it comes to trusting them with our freedom. I am amazed how they mock & laugh at the very country they live in with all of its wonderful opportunities. They have no idea what its like to live with out freedom yet so many claim they are losing theirs. Until they have lived in country where the people have no rights they should just stfu. Some of the people in this country wouldn't know communism if ran up & slapped in the face if they think this country is becoming communist. They should Stfu & do something if they don't like how things are this is America the home of the free & the land of the brave STILL.
